Barley

Barley
Barley is an excellent choice for forage production for grazing as well as hay and silage. It generally produces good protein as well as very good overall feed value. Many dairies have commented on raising their butterfat levels utilizing barley compared with corn. It can be planted a little earlier in the fall, as it has very good warm soil tolerance. Through plot work we have discovered that barley germinates and grows very well following sorghum allowing producers to follow their milo crops with barley for their grazing and other forage needs, as well as cover.
