We are authorized growers of P-919 and PennBar 66. P-919 is a beardless forage type barley, and PennBar 66 is aimed more at the grain producers. Both of these varieties yield well though, and our production P-919 has exceeded expectations the last three years.
Barley is a very good feed grain, and it matures earlier than wheat, leaving open more time for planting a second crop behind it. This would work well with soybeans, grain sorghum, sunflowers, sesame, and possibly cotton. We have had feeders contact us looking for barley grain as well as barley seed to plant for grazing/forage.
