Public Varieties of Wheat

Public Varieties of Wheat
Endurance is the only variety that we still have that would be considered a public variety. It was produced through Oklahoma State University’s ‘Grazing & Grain’ program. It has had a very good stable history of production. It has a delayed hollow stem that allows it to be grazed longer without adversely affecting the grain yield substantially. This may be the last year that it will be available from many seed retailers at a certified level, as they are no longer going to produce Foundation class seed. A newer variety that looks to be a very good potential replacement with the delayed hollow stem characteristics would be Bentley from OGI.
